The University of Arkansas has announced a new director of development and external relations for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences.
Mark Wilton has been appointed the director of development for Bumpers College. Coming from Auburn University where he has worked since 2000, he brings 19 years of fundraising experience to the University of Arkansas. While at Auburn, Wilton held several positions in the College of Agriculture’s development office.
During his tenure, Wilton raised over $85 million in gifts, according to a University of Arkansas press release. Three of the gifts he secured – for $8.4 million, $6.2 million and $2 million – are the largest donations in the history of the college.
“Mark is an experienced professional with a track record of tremendous success,” said Deacue Fields, dean of Bumpers College. “I’m familiar with some of his accomplishments at Auburn and expect him to come in and quickly connect with our friends, supporters, donors, alumni and other stakeholders. We’re excited to add him to our team, anticipate a smooth transition and look forward to his leadership in securing philanthropic support.”
Wilton officially assumes his role on April 1. He will be charged with crafting a development plan and overseeing fundraising and obtaining major donations.
He received a bachelor’s degree in environmental science in 1993 from Auburn.
