Little Rock Plastic Surgery, the practice of Dr. Michael Spann, announced Friday afternoon that a former employee had downloaded reports, images and other information containing personal health information of several clinic patients “on or about July 15, 2019.”
The employee, a nurse, no longer works for the clinic and the incident was referred to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing and the Arkansas Attorney General’s office. In a statement, the clinic revealed that the former employee also accessed clinic vendor accounts to gain access to information related to certain treatments and patient appointment dates.
“This activity occurred without the knowledge or consent of Little Rock Plastic Surgery, its patients, and was in violation of our policies,” the statement reads.
The clinic is working to have all information returned or destroyed, and all impacted patients will receive a written notification by mail. Patients are encouraged to call the clinic at 501-219-8000 with questions.
