Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek has been named selection committee chair for the remainder of the 2025 college football season, the College Football Playoff announced Thursday.
Yurachek replaces Mark Harlan of Utah.
Yurachek is also a part of the football coaching search at Arkansas, where former Penn State coach James Franklin is rumored to be a candidate. Interim head coach Bobby Petrino, who coached Arkansas from 2008 to 2011 and led the Hogs to a 21-10 record and a BCS berth in 2010, is also still considered a candidate.
The Hogs are 2-7 overall and 0-5 in SEC play following a series of one-score losses. Arkansa fired head coach Sam Pittman in September following an uninspired, blowout loss in Fayetteville to Notre Dame. Many names have since been connected to the Arkansas job, including Franklin, SMU’s Rhett Lashlee, South Florida’s Alex Golesh, Tulane’s Jon Sumrall, Ryan Silverfield of Memphis and Dan Mullen of UNLV.
Yurachek courted controversy earlier this year when he told the Little Rock Touchdown Club that Arkansas was not prepared to win a national title in football because it was not meeting the funding needs brought on by the advent of NIL.
