Walmart announced the expansion of its pharmacy delivery service, integrating prescription medications with general merchandise into one seamless order. The service is now available in six states, including Arkansas, with plans to reach 49 states by January 2025.
Offering significant convenience, Walmart’s pharmacy delivery provides access to millions of customers, particularly benefiting families, seniors and those managing chronic conditions. Customers can order prescriptions and groceries through the Walmart app or website with options for scheduled, on-demand or express delivery.
“We understand that health care is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s hyper-local. Each community has unique needs,” said Kevin Host, Walmart’s senior vice president of pharmacy. “This new offering allows us to continue serving customers while also giving more time back to our pharmacies for high-touch health services.”
Safety measures, including tamper-evident packaging and real-time tracking, ensure secure delivery. Insurance plans, including new or existing ones, will automatically apply to prescriptions, just as they do for in-store pickups. Walmart+ members can enjoy free delivery, while others pay a standard fee.
“We are committed to solving our customers’ needs by providing everything they require, whenever and wherever they need it,” said Tom Ward, executive vice president and chief eCommerce officer at Walmart U.S.
