The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission (NWARPC), in partnership with Central Arkansas’ Metroplan and the City of Fort Smith, recently announced the Arkansas Tri-Region E-Bike Incentive Program. The voucher initiative is expected to help more than 5,800 residents across the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway and Fort Smith regions purchase e-bikes.
Funded through an Environmental Protection Agency Climate Pollution Reduction Grant and supported administratively by APTIM, the program will offer vouchers ranging from $700 to $1,200 for eligible participants.
“This program represents an important investment in transportation access and regional collaboration,” said Tim Conklin, AICP, executive director of NWARPC. “By working together across Arkansas, we’re helping more residents access affordable transportation options while strengthening connections between communities and expanding mobility choices for everyday trips.”
The program will distribute vouchers through a randomized selection process. Residents selected through the drawing will be able to redeem their vouchers at participating bike shops when purchasing an electric bicycle.
Eligible applicants must reside in Benton, Crawford, Faulkner, Franklin, Grant, Lonoke, Madison, Perry, Pulaski, Saline, Sebastian or Washington counties in Arkansas, or Le Flore and Sequoyah counties in Oklahoma.
The application portal is scheduled to open July 6 at 9 a.m. During the initial registration process, applicants will not be required to submit documentation proving eligibility. The first randomized selection will take place July 21.
Applicants selected during the first round will receive an email with instructions to complete a full application, including proof of residency, income qualifications and other eligibility requirements.
Additional selection rounds are planned and will be announced at a later date, with the program expected to continue into next year.
The Arkansas Tri-Region E-Bike Incentive Program is designed to help residents access affordable transportation while supporting broader regional mobility goals across Northwest Arkansas, Central Arkansas and the Fort Smith area.
