Urban Outfitters is coming to Arkansas for the first time.
The retail chain is expected to open a store in Little Rock in summer 2021 in the Promenade at Chenal. Newmark Moses Tucker Partners, the leasing agent and property management firm for the west Little Rock shopping center, announced the new store on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
“Urban Outfitters is an iconic retail brand and we are thrilled to have them make an investment in Arkansas, the city of Little Rock and The Promenade at Chenal. Plus, this is a true testament to our leasing team’s hard work and dedication during these unprecedented times.” Chris Moses, president and CEO of Newmark Moses Tucker Partners, said in a statement.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, Penn., Urban Outfitters was founded in 1970 as a school project at the University of Pennsylvania by CEO Richard Hayne, Judy Wicks, and Scott Belair. Originally called Free People, it was renamed Urban Outfitters in 1976. Today, it operates multiple stores under the URBN portfolio, including Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain, BHLDN and the Vetri Family restaurant group.
Urban Outfitters operates more than 240 stores globally. Currently, the closest Urban Outfitters to Arkansas are located in Memphis, Tenn.; Plano, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Baton Rouge and New Orleans, La.; and Tulsa, Okla.
This is the latest announcement of a new retailer coming to the Promenade at Chenal. Sephora recently announced its plans to open a store at the shopping center in spring 2021.
