Bryce Mitchell takes fire for Hitler comments.
UFC fighter and native Arkansan Bryce Mitchell got his new podcast ArkanSanity with Bryce Mitchell and Roli Delgado off to a controversial start January 30 by saying in its inaugural episode that Adolf Hitler was “a good guy.”
“I honestly think that Hitler was a good guy based upon my own research, not my public education indoctrination,” Mitchell said. “I really do think before Hitler got on meth, he was a guy I’d go fishing with.”
Mitchell’s comments also contained unflattering opinions about the Jews in Germany during Hitler’s rise to power, homosexuals, and the existence of the Holocaust during World War II.
“That’s what your public education will tell you Roli, because you believe your public education because you haven’t done your own research,” he said. “When you realize there’s no possible way they could’ve burned and cremated 6 million bodies, you’re gonna realize the Holocaust ain’t real.”
UFC President Dana White condemned Mitchell’s remarks according to multiple media outlets. Speaking from an event in Saudi Arabia, White denounced the Searcy-based fighter’s comments on the podcast.
“I am sure you guys heard what Bryce Mitchell said,” White said. “If you haven’t, he said some probably, I’ve heard a lot of dumb ignorant s*** in my day, but this one is probably the worst.
“Hitler was one of the most disgusting and evil human beings who walked the earth,” he continued. “Anyone who tries to take an opposing position is a moron. That’s the problem with the internet and social media. You provide a platform for a lot of dumb and ignorant people. We have reached out to Bryce, and when we read what he said, we let him know how we feel about it. We are beyond disgusted.”
The Athletic reported White said during that conversation Mitchell expressed being sorry “if I put you guys in any position,” in reference to UFC. White also told reporters the fighter would not face suspension or expulsion for his remarks, calling it a matter of constitutional freedom.
“That’s what everyone wants to hear, about punishment, but it’s free speech,” White said. “I don’t have to love it, you don’t have to love it, you know.
“That’s the beautiful thing about this business; for all of you who hate Bryce Mitchell, you get to see him hopefully get his ass whooped on global television.”
