A nationwide survey has ranked the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) among the most diverse employers in the United States.
Forbes magazine listed UAMS as no. 7 among its Best Employers for Diversity list. In addition to surveying more than 50,000 individuals in workplaces with more than 1,000 employers, the researchers used recommendations and considered executive leadership diversity and institutional diversity efforts to determine the rankings.
“I have always said that at UAMS our diversity is our superpower, enabling us to do great things,” Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA, chancellor of UAMS and CEO of UAMS Health, said in a statement. “Diversity and inclusion are part of our core values at UAMS and inform all parts of our mission to research, educate and provide care.”
According to a UAMS release, the survey also took into account general diversity and participants’ perceptions of their employers’ approach to gender, ethnic and LGBTQ+ representation.
