CollegeAD.com is reporting that UA Little Rock will leave the Sun Belt Conference to join the Ohio Valley Conference.
UA Little Rock is one of just two non-football playing members of the Sun Belt, along with Texas-Arlington. The latest round of conference realignment in college sports, set off by the move of Texas and Oklahoma from the Big 12 to the Southeastern Conference, has created a domino effect among conferences throughout Division 1.
The Trojan athletics program reportedly will join another unannounced school as new members of the OVC, which recently lost two members to realignment. The OVC footprint now includes the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri and Illinois. Member schools are Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee-Martin; Murray State and Morehead State in Kentucky; Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville; and Southeast Missouri State.
The Sun Belt also includes Arkansas State. Its focus has drifted to football since the latest round of realignment began with the additions of Southern Miss., Marshall, Old Dominion and James Madison.
