Trex Company, the world’s largest producer of eco-friendly composite decking and railing, marked a significant milestone with the topping-out ceremony of its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Little Rock. The new production campus, representing a $400 million investment, is expected to increase Trex’s manufacturing capacity and meet the growing demand for its outdoor living products.
“We are thrilled to reach this important milestone in the development of our new facility,” President and CEO Bryan H. Fairbanks said. “This new campus will enable us to provide our customers with significantly better access to Trex products while strengthening our position for future growth.”
The event, held at the Trex site, saw participation from company executives, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Arkansas Economic Development Commission Executive Director Clint O’Neal, and other local dignitaries. The final structural steel beam, signed by project stakeholders, was placed atop the new decking facility, symbolizing the collective effort in bringing the project to fruition.
Governor Sanders emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, stating, “Great things happen when every level of government and the private sector are working on the same page.”
Situated on nearly 300 acres in the Port of Little Rock, this facility will be Trex’s third U.S.-based manufacturing site, joining locations in Nevada and Virginia. Once completed, the campus will feature buildings dedicated to decking and railing production, plastic film recycling, reclaimed wood storage, and warehousing.
The site is being developed by Gray Construction, with CEO Brian Jones highlighting the teamwork involved.
“This achievement reflects the collective commitment to excellence and innovation from Gray, Trex, and all our trade partners,” Jones said.
Trex’s new facility is expected to bring over 500 jobs to the Little Rock area, with recruitment for key positions already underway. The company has also actively engaged with the local community, sponsoring events and initiatives like the Little Rock Marathon and educational recycling programs.
“Little Rock has been incredibly welcoming to us, and we are eager to become an integral part of the community,” Fairbanks added.
The new campus is set to be a cornerstone of Trex’s operations, with advanced production lines designed to meet the company’s sustainability goals and industry-leading standards.
“The Little Rock Port Authority was created sixty-five years ago to help grow Little Rock’s economy. As Trex tops out this amazing facility, it will soon be offering high-paying jobs for hundreds of Arkansas families. This is exactly what the Port of Little Rock was destined to do,” Little Rock Port Authority Board Chair Clay McGeorge said.
