Texarkana Regional Airport was recently named the 2025 Airport Project of the Year in the Terminal — Small Commercial category by Airport Business Magazine. The award is in recognition of the airport’s recent modernization efforts, including the opening of the Jim E. Yates Terminal, which replaced the previous terminal built in 1960, doubling the size of the space.
“Texarkana Regional Airport’s new Jim E. Yats Terminal represents more than a significant infrastructure upgrade — it marks a strategic turning point for regional aviation in southwest Arkansas and northeast Texas,” wrote Joe Petrie, editor and chief of the publication. “With the completion of this $49 million terminal, the airport has replaced its aging 1960 facility with a state-of-the-art, passenger-friendly building that prioritizes both modern aviation standards and the unique character of the local community.”
Texarkana Regional Airport announced the honor in a recent Facebook post.
“This is more than just an award; it’s a milestone in the growth and development of Texarkana,” the post reads. “With a larger, more welcoming terminal, upgraded facilities and improved services, we’re better equipped to handle future growth and offer an enhanced experience for travelers.”
The airport also expressed gratitude to WDD Architects, Nabholz and McClelland Consulting Engineers for their work on the project.
“This award is a reflection of our community’s progress, and it’s just the beginning,” the post reads. “We’re excited for what the future holds as we continue to grow and serve Texarkana.”
