A Little Rock advertising agency is partnering with Lyon College to form a data science partnership aimed at providing increased student-work opportunities and optimizing client data analysis.
Stone Ward, the agency co-founded by Millie Ward and Larry Stone, will be collaborating with Lyon College on the data science project. As part of the partnership, Lyon College will analyze client data and provide recommendations to Stone Ward. Lyon College students will have the opportunity to participate in “micro-internships” with Stone Ward through the data science program.
“Stone Ward is committed to building good for our clients and the community. This collaboration will allow us to share our knowledge and resources with the students at Lyon College to help advance the field of data analytics,” Ward, president of Stone Ward, said in a statement. “With today’s business climate becoming increasingly more digital-driven, we hope that more students will consider data and analytics as a career path for their future.”
Lyon College announced in mid-2020 that it had approved a new data science major, making it the first private college in Arkansas to offer such a program. The data science program, offered alongside a computer science program, focuses on algorithms and how to apply data, according to a Lyon College news release.
This program will first be available to students in the fall 2020 semester.
