Stone Bank president and CEO Nick Roach admits there are advantages to having a new headquarters right on the corner of one of the busiest sections of Chenal Parkway in Little Rock.
“When you’re a community bank, you want to be in the community,” Roach told the standing-room-only crowd in the banking center’s new lobby. “We have about 46,000 cars come by during the day.”
Roach’s good-natured dig at the traffic drew chuckles from the crowd that assembled to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of Stone Bank’s new Little Rock headquarters. But Roach is serious about seeing customers walking in to the new environs and getting the financial assistance they need.
“We built this beautiful building so we can interact with our customers face to face,” Roach said.
There will be plenty for customers to see. The 39,000-square-foot, three-story building was built in 1990 but has undergone a vigorous renovation. Among the additions are a “community room” complete with a catering kitchen, a four-lane drive-thru with an ATM, a new entryway, new balconies and glass walls to allow for natural light.
The building will eventually house 115 bank employees.
“Remodeling this facility has been a long process,” Roach said. “And we are excited to provide a beautiful work environment for our employees and a new banking center for our customers.”
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott participated in the ribbon-cutting and thanked Stone Bank for choosing “the banking capitol of Arkansas” for their new headquarters.
“We know your choice doesn’t come without a lot of due diligence,” Scott said.
The theme of the ribbon-cutting was “Climbing to New Heights,” highlighted by the bank’s $10,000 donation to the American Scholastic Climbing League of Arkansas (ASCL).
The ASCL is a nonprofit organization offering climbing opportunities to middle school and high school students. The $10,000 donated from the bank will help provide scholarships, gym memberships, climbing gear and competition fees for socioeconomically underserved children.
