Kroger is instituting a mask requirement for customers, starting next week.
The Cincinnati, Ohio-based grocery store chain, the largest in the United States, is the latest company to establish a mask requirement for customers. Kroger previously had set a mask requirement for employees.
This mask requirement for Kroger customers will go into effect on Wednesday, July 22.
The announcement from Kroger comes on the heels of a similar mask requirement from Walmart, the world’s largest retailer. Both companies announced the mask requirement on Wednesday, July 15.
Customers at both Walmart and Sam’s Club stores will be required to wear masks inside starting Monday, July 20.
Multiple retailers have also set mask requirements for customers. Per Business Insider, 11 major retail companies have established mask requirements as of July 15. In addition to the previously mentioned companies, Best Buy, Costco, Starbucks, Apple Store, Dollar Tree, Mendards, Dollar Tree and Kohl’s require customers to wear masks.
