Southern Block Capital, the investment fund led by central Arkansas entrepreneurs Ryan Herget, Steve Landers Jr. and Dustin Curtis, has launched its second funding round out of a planned five.
The fund focuses on building and operating energy-backed infrastructure. Bitcoin mining is serving as the initial use case. The fund is raising capital to build and expand Bitcoin mining operations across Arkansas. Bitcoin mining is the process that secures the Bitcoin network and unlocks newly minted Bitcoin. Herget and his partners believe Fund II will piggyback off the first, taking advantage of the state’s favorable energy and economic environments.
Herget said fund strategy begins with securing reliable, low-cost power and pairing it with flexible, energy-intensive applications that can scale efficiently. He said the always-on, location-agnostic workload allows the team to monetize power immediately while maintaining options for future uses as energy markets and technology evolve.
“Our first fund was built around a clear thesis: utilizing Bitcoin mining as a reliable, capital-efficient way to monetize contracted power profitably, while preserving optionality in how that power can be utilized over time,” Herget said. “By operating at the low end of the cost curve, the model is designed to perform across market cycles — benefiting from higher prices when markets are strong and capturing a greater share of transaction fees as less efficient operators exit during downturns, helping protect revenue when prices soften.”
Fund I validated that approach through disciplined execution and strong operating performance, he said.
“It continues to perform ahead of schedule. Both our investors and internal team are confident in the model and proud of the execution to date. Fund I demonstrates that Bitcoin mining provides dependable cash flow today while keeping future pathways open as power markets evolve, and that success is the primary reason we’re already launching a second fund just months after the first.”
Fund II builds directly on that foundation, using the same operating philosophy while scaling capacity in response to strong investor demand and validated operating economics, he added.
“The second fund builds directly on the strong foundation of the first, using the same proven operating approach and equipment profile,” he said. “We officially kicked off Fund II this week and are currently in the process of raising capital. Even at this early stage, we’ve received significant commitments from Fund I investors, while also selectively engaging a small number of outside investors to give them exposure to what we’re building. We are targeting full operations for Fund II by the end of May.”
