A transit-packaging provider is expanding its Fordyce operations, creating more than 30 new jobs.
Signode Industrial Group, an Illinois-headquartered company, has announced its plans to expand its facilities in Forydce. According to an Arkansas Department of Commerce release, the expansion is expected to create 31 new jobs over the course of the coming 12 months.
The Fordyce location is one of four Arkansas locations that Signode operates. The company has two engineering/manufacturing locations in Benton at 400 Airlane Drive and 1208 River St. In addition, Signode has an engineering/manufacturing facility in Sheridan at 808 Blake Road.
Signode currently has currently 218 full-time employees in Arkansas spread among its facilities.
“Signode’s confidence in Arkansas is a testament to how a skilled manufacturing workforce can influence companies seeking to move or expand, and we are pleased to partner with Signode in this endeavor,” Arkansas Secretary of Commerce and Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) Mike Preston said in a statement.
Signode will also be growing its Sheridan operations as the company adds more product lines for this location. According to the company, the items that are currently produced at Sheridan will be moving to the Fordyce location but more product lines will be added for Sheridan.
Founded in 1913, the company manufactures packaging materials, from packaging machinery to steel and plastic strapping to stretch film and more. Signode’s products are used in a range of industries, according to the company’s website, including the pharmaceutical industry, construction, printing/mail, distribution, general manufacturing, fiber and textile industries, food and beverage and metals industries.
According to Forbes, the company had a revenue of $2.5 billion for 2018 and has approximately 7,000 employees.
