Rodney Slater, who grew up in poverty in the rural community of Marianna and went on to serve as the nation’s 13th secretary of transportation under President Bill Clinton, shares his story on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s “Share Your Transportation Story” page in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the DOT.
