Abaca CEO Dan Roda has been appointed to serve on the National Cannabis Industry Association’s Hemp Committee.
Founded in 2010, NCIA aims to “promote the growth of a responsible and legitimate cannabis industry” in the United States, according to its website. The association represents approximately 2,000 member businesses in addition to cannabis professionals.
Its Hemp Committee is designed to advocate for and educate on hemp, and the issues surrounding it.
Roda has been a leading figure in the cannabis industry, having co-founded Abaca, which provides financial services for U.S. cannabis and hemp businesses.
“Stable banking and payment processing services have been difficult for CBD and hemp business to obtain, even after the 2018 Farm Bill paved the way for legal hemp production nationwide” Roda said in a statement. “I look forward to joining the national conversation and utilizing my resources at Abaca to help expand access to normalized financial services for this rapidly growing segment of the economy.”
