The University of Arkansas has named Kelsi Musick as the 10th head coach of the Razorbacks’ women’s basketball program. Musick, who most recently led Oral Roberts, has signed a five-year contract worth $600,000 per year through April 2030.
Musick arrives in Fayetteville after three seasons at ORU, where she steadily built the Golden Eagles into a postseason contender. Under her leadership, ORU recorded back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in over a decade, finishing the 2023-24 campaign at 24-9. Her high-scoring teams consistently ranked in the nation’s Top 20 in points per game, with the latest squad averaging 83.2 points, good for eighth nationally.
Her impact at ORU extended beyond team success, as she helped develop top talent, including Summit League Freshman of the Year Emily Robinson and two-time Sixth Woman of the Year Jalei Oglesby.
“As I spoke to Kelsi and people associated with her, I was impressed by her work ethic, enthusiasm, and her ability to maximize resources in building winning programs at each of her coaching stops,” said Hunter Yurachek, UA’s director of athletics. “Throughout my conversations with Kelsi, it was apparent she wanted to be an Arkansas Razorback and welcomed the challenge of building our women’s basketball program to compete against the best of the best in the SEC.”
Before her time at ORU, Musick spent 13 seasons as head coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State, where she compiled a 259-125 record. Her teams were known for their high-powered offense, ranking in the Top 10 nationally in scoring for seven of her nine seasons. She guided the Lady Bulldogs to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the 2019 Division II national championship game.
Musick’s coaching career began at Fresno State, where she worked in basketball operations before taking an assistant coaching role for the Bulldogs’ 2008-09 NCAA Tournament team. She also spent time coaching at the high school level in her home state of Oklahoma.
“I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the women’s basketball program at the University of Arkansas,” Musick said. “This is a place with a proud tradition, passionate fans and a commitment to excellence in every way. I’m excited to get to work building something special.”
A former standout player at Cameron University, Musick set school records for three-point shooting percentage and assists while helping the Aggies reach their first NCAA Tournament. She was inducted into the Cameron University Athletics Hall of Fame in February 2025.
