May ended with a stifling blanket of humidity. Welcome to summer, Natural State.
Despite the brief heat wave, Arkansas is all about summer, which, in my book, would have to be considered the state’s official season. Summer in Arkansas means lakes, rivers, ballparks and the smell of brats on the grill. With outdoor recreation such an integral component of the Natural State experience, it only makes sense.
Speaking of hot, the June issue of Arkansas Money & Politics includes packages devoted to real estate, insurance and our annual “Most Admired Companies” as voted by readers.
On the real estate side, residential agents discuss the homebuying trends they are seeing in Arkansas’ most prominent markets; developers share what they are seeing on the commercial side; we visit Arkansas Main Streets to see how cities and towns in the Natural State have transformed their downtowns; and we look at the next Arkansas “boomtowns.”
We also look at various aspects of the insurance industry in the state, from life insurance and what that entails for business owners to health, farm, and home and auto, as well as where the industry is finding new agents, and we profile several female professionals in the industry.
Our “Most Admired Companies” section features a list of readers’ favorites, from banks to colleges, and in sports, we look into how golf has exploded in the state, from the success of the state’s college teams to the influx of new golf facilites, yet how much is left to do.
Do not miss this month’s installment of “Arkansas Visionaries,” featuring the one-and-only Bill Barnes, owner of Mountain Harbor Resort & Spa, a true American success story.
As always, thanks for reading. Hit me up with story ideas at hbaker@armoneyandpolitics.com.
