It is hard for me to wrap my brain around the fact that the Fourth of July has come and gone, summer is half over, and we are starting to anticipate the launch of football season.
But here we are, Arkansas’ typical summer finally having decided to drop in for a visit. In keeping with that “hot” theme, Arkansas Money & Politics has a lot to offer this month.
In the spirit of the 250th anniversary of our great country, we have devoted a section of the July issue to the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville and the men and women stationed there to help ensure America’s safety.
Inside, we look at the history of the base and the efforts of local leaders on the ground to help get it here; we examine the “city within a city” dynamic of the base in Jacksonville; feature the LRAFB Honor Guard; and talk to military retirees who have remained closely connected to the base through employment or volunteering.
Elsewhere, we feature suites of stories dedicated to education and business services. In sports, we take a look at the sponsorship deal that will place Tyson Foods patches on all Razorback jerseys beginning this fall — both men’s and women’s in all sports — and visit with Chris Curry, who just led his Little Rock Trojans to back-to-back conference tournament titles and an NCAA regional championship.
Plus, this month, we introduce our 2026 “Future Icons.” Some honorees are C-suite executives and established business owners, while others are just beginning to leave their mark on the world, and still others may be pursuing a second career. They come from all backgrounds, industries and walks of life, but the common thread uniting all of them is potential. These are people from whom Arkansas expects great things and to whom great honors are due.
AMP is proud to highlight those Arkansans set to play a significant role in the future of the state.
