As it celebrates its 200th anniversary, Rose Law Firm has pledged $200,000 toward philanthropic initiatives.
The business law firm, which has offices in Little Rock and Fayetteville, has committed the funding to seven Arkansas organizations. The organizations include Arkansas Access to Justice, Center for Arkansas Legal Services, Legal Aid of Arkansas, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville School of Law, UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law, Arkansas Bar Association and the Arkansas Arts Center
“For two hundred years, Rose Law Firm has been committed to our clients, employees and the communities we serve,” Robyn Allmendinger, managing member, said in a statement. “In the spirit of gratitude, today, I am pleased to announce our philanthropic initiative in honor of this anniversary, with gifts totaling $200,000 to benefit legal aid and nonprofit organizations in our state.”
The Arkansas Access to Justice commitment will fund the “Rose Law Firm Anniversary Fellowship, which will allow a law student to work with the organization to perform research and develop Arkansas policy recommendations. The Center for Arkansas Legal Services funding will support the Veterans Legal Assistance Project, which benefits low-income and homeless veterans. The Legal Aid of Arkansas funding will support the director of advocacy position, which is designed to continue Legal Aid’s justice efforts.
The UA School of Law funding will create the “Rose Law Firm 200th Anniversary Public Service Awards,” which will benefit three public service/pro bono student fellowships. The Bowen School of Law funding will support a Bowen Law School Public Interest Fellowship that will allow a student to work with nonprofits and government agencies.
Rose Law Firm bills itself as the “oldest law firm west of the Mississippi River, with its history predating the establishment of the state of Arkansas by approximately 16 years. According to the firm’s website, Rose Law Firm dates back to Nov. 1, 1820 when Robert Crittenden and Chester Ashley formed a partnership to practice law. The state of Arkansas was admitted into the Union in 1836.
