NWA YP Summit Aims to Empower Leaders to Follow Their Passions

The Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders and Rotary Clubs have partnered to present the fourth annual Northwest Arkansas Young Professionals (NWA YP) Summit. This year’s theme, Ignite Your Passion, will encourage attendees to jump in to the opportunities waiting in their communities.

Dr. “Bowtie” Todd Jenkins, the founder of the summit, says, “The NWA YP Summit continues to stay true to the mission, which is to equip young professionals in Northwest Arkansas with the tools to enact positive change within themselves, their companies and community.”

To achieve this mission, a volunteer-based group of young leaders help participants discover their passions and pursue them with the help of the latest professional development techniques. The NWA YP Summit empowers young professionals to get involved and connected to resources in their own communities.

This year, the summit will feature breakout sessions on several topics participants can choose from, including artificial intelligence, service projects, intercultural communication, sustainable development and more.

Officials from Startup Junkie, Crystal Bridges and the University of Arkansas are set to host these breakout sessions. “Startup Junkie is thrilled to participate NWA YP Summit again this year,” Startup Junkie Executive Director Haley Allgood says. “We will be hosting a panel of incredible, young entrepreneurs during the 11 a.m. breakout session, and each of them has a unique story to tell. I look forward to getting to what inspired them to take the leap and launch their ventures, and I know those in attendance will gain a lot from hearing about their journeys.”

Jenkins received a grant from Rotary International, local Rotary clubs and the Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders to hold his first summit in August 2016. He plans to continue the summit annually. “Our hope is to grow bigger and better while remaining relevant, diverse and intentional,” says Jenkins.

The NWA YP Summit 2019 is slated to take place on Aug. 9 at the Walton Arts Center. All individuals seeking professional development or networking opportunities are welcome to attend.

Tickets for the event are $60. Click here for more information.
