The Arkansas Colleges of Health Education in Fort Smith – the parent organization for the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine – broke ground on a facility for its newest college earlier this week.
The College of Health Sciences will be ACHE’s second college.
Faculty, staff, students and the public gathered on Tuesday afternoon at 7000 Chad Colley Boulevard in Fort Smith for the groundbreaking.
The over-60,000-square-foot College of Health Sciences facility will be home to the school’s doctor of occupational therapy, doctor of physical therapy and physician’s assistant programs.
In 2017, ACHE announced the health sciences building project, as well as construction projects focused on student housing, a research center and planned zone development.
The osteopathic college opened to students in 2017.
The Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine is one of two osteopathic colleges in the state. The other is the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine on the Arkansas State University campus in Jonesboro.
