Murphy USA is preparing to launch a major hiring campaign, adding thousands of positions across its U.S. footprint.
The El Dorado-based company will be filling 3,000 positions in 1,600 stores. To spur hiring campaign, Murphy USA will be offering a monetary incentive to increase interest.
New employees hired by May 31 are expected to receive a $500 bonus at select stores. This bonus will only be paid out to employees who remain at the company through Sept. 10, 2021. In addition, new employees at select locations will receive premium pay, which adds $2 per hour to the company’s regular hourly rate, from May 8 to Sept. 10.
“It is an exciting time to join the company as we continue to grow and enhance our culture through our ongoing employee value proposition efforts. At Murphy USA, we understand that what sets us apart is our team members. This mindset fuels our continued commitment to taking care of and developing our people,” Terry Hatten, Murphy USA Senior Vice President of Human Resources, said in a statement.
According to a company release, Murphy USA also provides pay-on-demand services, which allows employees to access a portion of wages after completed shifts, as well as a comprehensive initial training program and continuing education opportunities.
This hiring campaign is targeting both full- and part-time positions.
In its recent first quarter filing for 2021, Murphy USA reported a net income of $55.3 million, which was down from its first quarter net income of $89.3 million in 2020. Murphy USA also saw its total retail gallons and same store sales decrease by 4.2 percent and 10.1 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
However, Murphy USA grew its store count by 156 with its recent acquisition of QuickChek in 2021 and opened a new Murphy Express store. The company also has two new Murphy Express locations, 12 raze-and-build Murphy USA stores and four QuickChek locations under construction.
