Moosejaw, a Walmart-owned outdoor gear and apparel company, is set to open its first location in Arkansas on Oct. 21 in Bentonville. The store’s location resides just a few blocks away from the original Walton’s 5 & 10.
The retailer is known for its wide selection of name-brand outdoor brands, including The North Face, Prana, Columbia, Keen, Rocky Mountain and Burton, with both adult and children sizes among the selection. Moosejaw was acquired by Walmart in 2017.
“Bentonville has become one of the top mountain biking destinations in the US, so we wanted to be there and bring cool brands like Evil and Rocky Mountain Bikes to the area,” says Eoin Comerford, Moosejaw CEO. “We were particularly attracted to downtown due to the proximity to the trails and ongoing revitalization and investment in pedestrian malls, hotels and more. Our backpacking and snow sports assortment will also fill gaps in the local market. The Ozarks are right in our backyard and world-class skiing is a two-hour flight away.”
According to a release, the Bentonville location is 6,000 square feet, which makes it the second-largest Moosejaw location in the country. This will mark its 12th physical location countrywide, in addition to its online shopping platform.
The Bentonville location is at 111 South Main Street.
