Marvin Childers of Little Rock is one of four recently named to the Be Pro Be Proud national board of directors.
Be Pro Be Proud is a nonprofit organization working to bring a new generation of professionals to America’s skilled workforce by changing the perception of technical career opportunities. It got its start through the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce. Childers is an attorney with Friday, Eldredge & Clark in Little Rock.
He is a former state legislator and the former president of the Little Rock-based Poultry Federation.
Other new board members are George Arrants, vice president of the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation in Texas; Leslie Clark, chief operating officer and vice president of external affairs for the Carolinas Associated General Contractors in South Carolina; and Tim Minton, executive vice president of the North Carolina Home Builders Association.

The 15-member national board works to elevate technical professions and connect students with high-demand career opportunities through workforce engagement across its expanding national network, according to a press release.
“Each of these leaders brings an incredible depth of knowledge and unique perspectives across industries our program promotes,” said Andrew Parker, executive director of Be Pro Be Proud. “Their dynamic leadership, influence and commitment to workforce development will elevate our program and deepen our impact as we continue inspiring the next generation to pursue high-demand technical professions.”
In addition to national positions, Be Pro Be Proud added four advisory board members to represent state programs: Sarah Burnett, chief of staff and director of foundation for the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce; Rob Lemming, president and CEO of the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce Foundation; Joe Quinn, executive director of the Arkansas Good Roads Foundation; and Randy Henderson, safety coordinator for Nucor Arkansas Corp.
