Lyon College School of Dental Medicine has named Mark Anderson as associate dean. With decades of experience in dental education, clinical practice and administration, Anderson will oversee the school’s curricula in his new role. The school is set to open in June 2025, pending accreditation by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
“Dr. Anderson’s depth of expertise in academic leadership and his passion for educating the next generation of dental professionals make him an exceptional choice for this role,” said Dr. Burke Soffe, founding dean of the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine. “We are thrilled to have him join our team as we work toward preparing students to serve their communities with skill and compassion.”
Anderson entered private practice in central Arkansas directly after graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1989. He later pursued residency training in oral and maxillofacial pathology at Ohio State University. After his residency, he returned to Tennessee as part of the university’s faculty. While there, he served as division director, department chair and interim associate dean for academic affairs. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

Renovation of the complex, which will be located at 1 Allied Dr., Bldg. 5, in Little Rock, is currently underway. The school plans to enroll 80 students in its first year.
