The Little Rock Board of Directors voted Tuesday, Aug. 6, to extend on-premise Sunday alcohol sales in Little Rock.
The ordinance to extend such sales to 10 a.m. through 12 midnight on Sundays passed with a 7-2 vote. The no votes came from at-large city director Joan Adcock and B.J. Wyrick, director for ward 7.
An emergency clause to place the ordinance in effect immediately was voted down, so the ordinance will go into effect in 30 days.
Current city code allows on-premise alcohol sales from 12 noon to 10 p.m. On-premise sales cover any purchase of alcohol consumed at the same place the alcohol was bought. Under the new code, restaurants and hotels will be able to begin selling alcohol on-site at 10 a.m. running through midnight on Sundays.
At-large director Antwan Phillips sponsored the measure.
