Little Rock’s Traffic Court is set to reopen for in-person proceedings in June.
The Little Rock District Court, Second Division is set to reopen on June 1, according to Judge Vic Fleming. He said, in a city news release, that there are multiple in-person trials set in June, with trial runs in May.
The May in-person dates are set for May 6, 13, 18, 20, 25 and 27. These trail dates will only be conducted during the morning from 8:45 to 9:45 am.
“By starting out with these light docket days, we will be able to see what works and what doesn’t work for our court and massage our plans for summer and fall accordingly,” Fleming said in a statement. “We will continue to have as large a virtual docket as our clerks can assemble.”
From April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, the court has handled 6,418 hearings via teleconferencing and virtual meetings. According to Fleming, this represents approximately one-third of the normal court proceedings in a given year.
