The Little Rock Rangers, Arkansas’ highest-level soccer club, notched a key victory against Texas United on Sunday in the semi-finals of the United Soccer League Two Southern Conference playoffs.Â
The 2-0 final scoreline came thanks to goals from Jon Koka in the 19th minute and Stefano Campisi in the 42nd minute. It’s also an especially welcome result against a Texas United side that the Rangers dropped points to more than once in the regular season.
The win sends the Rangers to Virginia for the next round of their first USL2 playoff run in club history. The team hits the road Wednesday, July 26, and is set to face Florida-based side The Villages SC in the conference finals on Friday at 4 p.m. CST.
The Rangers are coming off a dominant regular season, going 8-2-2 in the USL Mid-South and beating Houston-based side AHFC Royals 2-0 in the Southern Conference quarterfinals on July 21. If they can manage to keep their form, the Rangers are on track to cap off an already historic season with a championship title to match.Â
