Lawrence Healthcare and Williams Baptist University announced Tuesday a partnership to fulfill vacancies at the hospital while providing unique training and experience opportunities for WBU students.
Students in the Williams Works initiative will be awarded certifications, as well as hands on experience, after the completion of work at the hospital.
Laurence Healthcare operates Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge. WBU is a Christian liberal arts university with approximately 600 students, also located in Walnut Ridge. One of the most popular majors on the campus is biology and pre-medicine.
Students accepted into the Williams Works program will work 16 hours each week throughout the spring and fall semesters in exchange for having their tuition and student services fees covered. Students who opt to work 40 hours each week during the summer will be able to cover their room and board expenses as well.
The program will launch this fall and is expected to grow rapidly in the future.
