One long-time University of Arkansas at Little Rock professor is leaving a legacy for future students and faculty in the school’s Department of Rhetoric and Writing.
Dr. Karen Kuralt is making a planned gift of $100,000 to UA Little Rock, which is earmarked for a graduate student scholarship and a faculty development fund. Kuralt is the associate dean of the Graduate School and an associate professor of rhetoric and writing, who has been with UA Little Rock for 20 years.
“UA Little Rock is where I’ve invested most of my time as an educator. This is part of my legacy,” Kuralt said in a statement. “I know these funds will go to something I care about, which is my students, their future, and my department.”
The scholarship, named the Karen Kuralt Endowed Graduate Student Scholarship, is aimed at assisting rhetoric and writing graduate students with educational expenses, such as tutition, fees, books and room and board. The Karen Kuralt Endowed Faculty and Professional Development Fund will help rhetoric and writing faculty attend conferences and training seminars.
