The Democratic Party of Arkansas has announced that former Vice President Kamala Harris will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2026 Fisher Shackelford Dinner in Little Rock.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Wally Allen Ballroom inside the Statehouse Convention Center.
According to the organization, the annual dinner brings together party members, supporters and community leaders to recognize honorees and highlight Democratic initiatives in Arkansas. This year’s honorees include Debrah Mitchell, Rep. Tippi McCullough and Addie Jones.
In a statement shared by the party, Arkansas Democrats’ Vice Chair Jannie Cotton said:
We are so honored for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I could not be more grateful that Vice President Harris chose Arkansas for her first keynote speech following the 2024 election. Vice President Harris is the national leader who most embodies the spirit of our Fisher Shackelford Dinner. As the 49th vice president of the United States and the first woman in American history to hold the office, there would be no one better to keynote this incredible event and celebrate our remarkable honorees. I have worked tirelessly to bring her to Arkansas and to make this happen, and I can’t wait to share this historic evening with all of you.
The Democratic Party of Arkansas also noted Harris’ efforts to strengthen global alliances and address child poverty, gun violence, reproductive rights and more, continuing to fight for the only client she’s ever had: the people.
Established in 2014, the Fisher Shackelford Dinner honors two iconic figures in Arkansas Democratic politics: the late Jimmie Lou Fisher and Lottie Shackelford. Their leadership and careers are defined by a lifetime of public service and an unwavering commitment to the Democratic Party. The annual Fisher Shackelford Dinner celebrates their lasting impact and recognizes the leadership, service and contributions of other outstanding women leaders in Arkansas Democratic politics.
