Ivanka Trump is set to speak Thursday, May 8, at the Heartland Summit in Bentonville. Axios reported that Trump will announce her latest work in expanding access to fresh produce, marking her return to the national spotlight after thus far staying relatively quiet during her father’s second presidential term.
Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive Global, will interview Trump on stage. Ivanka Trump, President Donald Trump’s oldest daughter, will discuss how “private-sector solutions and whole-harvest sourcing are helping expand access to fresh food, support farmers, reduce waste and drive lasting impact across communities,” Axios reported.
According to the news outlet, it is the first time Ivanka Trump will publicly speak about her role as co-founder of Chicago-based Planet Harvest, which she co-founded in 2023 with Melissa Melshenker Ackerman, a produce supply chain expert and the company’s CEO.
Axios reported that Trump developed a passion for supporting farmers and promoting food security during the COVID-19 pandemic with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box program and has supported emergency feeding efforts nationwide since her father’s first term.
Yesterday, Day One of the Heartland Summit focused on the role women play in driving economic growth. Speakers included Jenny Just, co-founder and managing partner of PEAK6 Investments; Penny Pennington, managing partner at Edward Jones; entrepreneur and fashion designer Kendra Scott; Jessica Berman, commissioner of the National Women’s Soccer League; and Nadia Rawlinson, co-owner of the Chicago Sky.
Hosted by Heartland Forward, a nonprofit think tank in Bentonville, the Heartland Summit was co-founded by Olivia, Tom and Steuart Walton to highlight innovation and northwest Arkansas and explore topics relevant to the future of America’s heartland.
