It’s the Southeastern Conference, and it’s the SEC with Texas and Oklahoma added to the mix in 2024, so the ’24 SEC football schedule released this week by the league office remains salty. But for the Arkansas Razorbacks, the ’24 slate doesn’t scream murderer’s row quite as loudly as the schedule has the previous four seasons.
The highlights: Texas in Fayetteville in November and no Alabama.
The Hogs’ 2024 SEC home slate is a good one. It includes the matchup with traditional rival Texas (previously leaked by ESPN) on Nov. 16 following one of two byes, as well as Tennessee, LSU and Ole Miss. Under the scheduling format for ’24, each SEC team receives two open dates. The scheduling format for 2025 and beyond has not been set as the league continues to consider adding a ninth conference game.
Road games for the Razorbacks are to Auburn, Mississippi State and Missouri. The Hogs also travel to Stillwater to face Big 12 power Oklahoma State in September.
Whether the Missouri game, traditionally played on Black Friday and televised by CBS, is once again moved to the Friday after Thanksgiving is uncertain since ESPN now is the exclusive broadcaster of SEC games. Information on start times and broadcast coverage won’t be released for several months.
The Hogs will play on campus six times in ’24 and face only four true road games (the contract to play Texas A&M in Arlington, Texas, every year expires after this season, and this year’s contest will be the Aggies’ home game). Though the Hogs won’t play a game in Fayetteville until Sept. 14, there are no stretches of five games away from campus as was the case in 2023. Plus, for the first time since Arkansas entered the SEC for the 1992 season, the Hogs won’t see Alabama on the schedule.
