Applications are now open for the fourth annual Health Sciences Entrepreneurship Boot Camp.
Geared toward undergraduate and graduate students in Arkansas, this weeklong boot camp provides an opportunity for participants to learn about health care problems and innovative solutions to this challenges. The program is a partnership between Conductor, BioVentures, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), the University of Central Arkansas and INBRE.
During the program, the participants will gather at the University of Central Arkansas campus to receive hands-on training in a range of subjects, from venture creation to intellectual property to building a team and more. The students will also receive leadership development training, as well as learn about customer discovery, networking and team building.
“This program provides such a unique learning opportunity around healthcare innovation for students in Arkansas,” BioVentures president Nancy Gray, Ph.D., said in a statement. “By focusing on healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship, the program provides a perspective on healthcare that most students don’t have the opportunity to experience in a traditional classroom.”
Currently, the camp is scheduled for May 16-22, 2021. All boot camp participants will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Arkansas Department of Health guidelines on social distancing, mask-wearing and other health practices.
This will mark a return for the boot camp program after a one-year absence. In 2020, the camp was canceled during to rising numbers of COVID-19 cases.
Lodging, food and programming are made available to participants at no cost. To qualify for the program, students must be attending an Arkansas college or university and must be at least in their sophomore year of college by the time of the camp. An interest in health care is also a requirement.
“The boot camp focuses on challenging and development students’ perspectives of problem-solving versus solution-seeking in the healthcare industry while providing high-value experiences and mentors as they prepare for a career in healthcare or position themselves to build their own healthcare companies, Conductor managing director Jeff Standridge said.
Applications for the annual Health Sciences Entrepreneurship Boot Camp will open on Dec. 14, and the early consideration deadline is Monday, Feb. 15, 2021. The final deadline is Monday, March 22, 2021.
