Signature Bank of Arkansas Chairman and CEO Gary Head has been appointed to the State Banking Board by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. He will serve a 5-year term ending Dec. 31, 2028.
The Arkansas State Bank Department and the State Banking Board are responsible for the issuance of new charters, authorization of branches and other applications relating to the ownership and structure of banks and bank holding companies.
Born in Eureka Springs, Head began his career in the industry as a loan officer at McIlroy Bank in 1983 and later became vice president of First State Bank. In 1988, Head rejoined McIlroy as finance executive, eventually working his way up to CEO of McIlroy/Arvest Bank. In 2004, he brought his entrepreneurial spirit into his role as chairman/CEO of Signature Bank of Arkansas – the same company that recently established the first entirely Hispanic-dedicated bank in the state, Banco Sí.
Head holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Arkansas and completed his Masters of Banking degree at Louisiana State University.
