The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Research and Extension is hosting a discussion on Monday highlighting emerging legal issues in agriculture at the local and national level.
Harrison Pittman, director of the National Agricultural Law Center, will discuss challenges that American farmers are facing and legal issues that have recently developed for Arkansas agricultural producers. Pittman’s presentation is entitled “Recent & Emerging Issues in Ag & Food Law: Overview for Arkansas Ag & Food Industries.

The talk will be held Monday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m., in Room D-2 of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture’s Food Science Building, in Little Rock.
As one of the largest agricultural producers in the nation, Arkansas has been and will be significantly impacted by changes in the national and international agricultural market. During his presentation, Pittman will touch on multiple issues that have developed at the local, federal and international levels that have affected agriculture in Arkansas.
Pittman earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s William H. Bowen School of Law and an LL.M. in Agricultural Law from the University of Arkansas School of Law’s Graduate Program in Agricultural Law. He has since taught at the William H. Bowen School of Law and served as a visiting professor at the Drake University School of Law.
