Pope County may soon have a new resort and casino that has a familiar name – Hard Rock.
Warner Gaming has partnered with Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to proposed a resort for Pope County in Arkansas. The resort is expected to feature a hotel, dining options ranging from casual to up-scale, live entertainment venues, and more.
“We aim to deliver to Pope County a facility that will attract visitors throughout the region and beyond,” said Bill Warner, owner and CEO of Warner Gaming. “With its truly global reach, the Hard Rock brand will help us do that.”
Arkansas voters approved a constitutional amendment in November 2018 that allowed for expanded casino gaming at Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in Hot Springs and South Park Gaming in West Memphis, as well as two new casinos in Jefferson and Pope counties.
According to a Warner Gaming press release, the company intends to file an application with the Arkansas Racing Commission for the casino license in May.
“Arkansans have decided to keep the jobs and tax revenues associated with casino gaming within the state, and we are excited for the opportunity to be a part of that,” said Warner. “In the coming weeks, we will continue our discussions with Pope County residents so that we can get a feel for what the community would like to see in a project like this. Our past experience has taught us that community input and involvement is critical to our success.”
Other companies have also submitted plans for casinos in Pope County. In December 2018, Gulfside Casino Partnership had announced plans to develop a casino in Pope County. The company had submitted its application to the Arkansas Racing Commission to build a $250 million resort in the county.
