The United States Marshals Museum Foundation is building on its strong fundraising momentum under new board leadership. Robert A. Young, III has passed the torch to Laurice A. Hachem, chairwoman of the board, and George Westmoreland, vice chair. Now chairman emeritus, Young previously held the role for 12 years.
The future United States Marshals Museum will be a national museum located on the riverfront in Fort Smith. Once open, it will tell the story of our nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency from its establishment by President George Washington through current day. The museum will honor the sacrifice of Marshals killed in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to place their lives in harm’s way, as they enforce the U.S. Constitution.
“Robert Young is an incredible advocate for the museum, guiding this process with smart, strategic thinking he honed during his more than five decades leading ArcBest,” said Patrick Weeks, museum president and CEO. “We are excited for long-time board members Laurice and George to join him in ushering us through the final stages of fundraising.”
Laurice A. Hachem operates Hachem Investments, Inc, a privately held real estate investment company with offices in Northwest Arkansas and Florida, and ten additional businesses, including an international medical software company. She contributes to numerous local causes, including Arkansas Athletes Outreach, Arkansas Children’s Northwest, CASA of NWA, Equestrian Bridges, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Hope Cancer Resources, Mercy Health Foundation Northwest Arkansas, Boys and Girls Clubs, Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter and Susan G. Komen. She also serves on the foundation board of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.
“With their strong leadership skills and unwavering commitment to the museum, Laurice and George are well-equipped to fulfill these roles,” said Anthony Meyer, museum chief development officer and foundation president. “I look forward to partnering with them, and the entire board, to achieve our fundraising goals.”
George Westmoreland is a decorated U.S. Army captain and retired banker. He is the founder of the Law Enforcement Assistance Program and former civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army. He is the former chair of the City of Rogers’ Search Committees for Chief of Police and Fire Chief; Rogers Airport Commission; Rogers Planning Commission; and Rogers United Fund. He previously served on the University of Arkansas Graduate Dean’s Advisory Board and the boards of Arkansas’s School Funding Commission, Central United Methodist Church and Mercy Hospital.
