In Fort Smith, masks will be strongly encouraged indoors and outdoors.
The city’s board of directors passed a resolution on Tuesday evening (July 7) encouraging individuals to wear masks both indoors and outdoors when social distancing is not possible.
The directors are set to consider requiring masks within the city. They will be meeting on Saturday to consider adopting an ordinance requiring the use of masks.
Fort Smith is the second Arkansas city this week to pass a measure related to masks. On Monday, Conway’s city council approved an ordinance requiring masks within “essential” businesses.
