Forbes, in partnership with market research firm Statista, recently conducted a survey involving employees and former employees at U.S. companies that currently employ over 5,000 workers to formulate a ranking of America’s best large employers.
The employees evaluated their employer based on various aspects, including working hours, salary, mental health benefits, expectations and more. Using a new methodology that included data from the past three years, this year’s survey was able to better identify companies that have been rated well on more of a consistent basis.
The survey results were tallied to produce a score for each company, and a list of the 600 best large employers in the U.S. has officially been published. Four of those employers are Arkansas-based companies:
ArcBest, based in Fort Smith, ranked at No. 95 on the list. The company was founded in 1923.
Simmons Foods, based in Siloam Springs, ranked at No. 195 on the list. The company was founded in 1949.
Arvest Bank, based in Bentonville, ranked at No. 237 on the list. The company was founded in 1961 with its charter dating back to McIlroy Bank & Trust, which was founded in 1871.
J.B. Hunt Transport Services, based in Lowell, ranked at No. 586 on the list. The company was founded in 1961.
As for Forbes’ list of best mid-size employers, the only Arkansas-based company recognized was Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield – coming in at No. 166. The mid-size employers were ranked after a survey of U.S. companies that employ between 1,000 and 5,000 workers.
