The Little Rock Touchdown Club has barely gotten out of the gate on its 2024 series of speakers and it’s already shaping up to be the biggest on record. Demand for Week Two of the club’s lineup, featuring Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, has exploded prompting the announcement that the Aug. 26 event is being moved to the Wally Allen Room of the Statehouse Convention Center.
Tickets are available now: $35 for members and $50 for non-members, at lrtouchdown.com. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and the program begins at 11:30 a.m., per the LRTDC website.
Spokesman RJ Hawk said there is no limit on the number of tickets, so fans are encouraged to act fast.
“Fans need to get their tickets early because if we sell out this one, there’s nowhere else to take it,” Hawk said. “Believe it or not there are a lot of Green Bay Packer fans in Arkansas and they’re all eager to get out and see Favre.”
After being drafted out of Southern Mississippi University by the Atlanta Falcons in 1991 Favre joined the moribund Green Bay Packers the following year. There, he would rise to the ranks of the greatest quarterbacks to ever have donned an NFL uniform. A three-time league MVP and voted to 11 Pro Bowls, he set the bar for toughness, amassing an amazing 321 consecutive starts between 1992 and 2010.
Along the way, he led the Green and Gold back to the promised land, winning Super Bowl XXXI, the club’s first title in nearly three decades. Favre would also play for the Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets before retiring in 2011. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
“Brett Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time,” Hawk said. “He hasn’t done a lot of interviews and has just been living life as a regular guy in recent years. Bringing him to Little Rock just shows the reputation of the Little Rock Touchdown Club as one of the best touchdown clubs in the country.
“What (LRTDC co-founder) David Bazzel has been able to do with the club over the past 20 years has solidified its reputation as a club that truly celebrates the game of football.”
The Little Rock Touchdown Club, now in its 20th year, opened the season with a guest appearance by Arkansas Head Coach Sam Pittman on Aug. 19. For full schedule, tickets and information, visit lrtouchdown.com.
