Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are currently down, as users are reporting a message indicating that “something went wrong” when attempting to access the sites.
It appears that the sites are down across the country, and multiple platforms have been affected. Users report that the desktop and mobile app are not functioning. According to downdetector.com, the first Facebook issues were reported around 10 a.m.
Facebook released the following statement at 11:22 a.m. CST via its Twitter account concerning the outage:
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
Users have posted about the Facebook outage on other social media sites, including Twitter. The hashtag #Facebookdown and #facebookoutage are currently trending on Twitter.
Facebook, Instagram, and associated apps seemed to be back up and working as of 7:00 p.m. CST.
Facebook issued the following response to the widespread outage on Twitter, Monday afternoon:
“To the huge community of people and businesses around the world who depend on us: we’re sorry. We’ve been working hard to restore access to our apps and services and are happy to report they are coming back online now. Thank you for bearing with us.”
