What kind of competition do you face in this field, and how does your company distinguish itself?
The competition ranges from large national firms to independent advisors to, increasingly, platforms powered by artificial intelligence that promise to manage your wealth for a fraction of the cost. We’re not threatened by any of that — because what we offer can’t be automated. We’ve been in continuous practice since 1999, completed seven successful acquisitions and have clients whose children are now clients. That kind of multigenerational trust is built through real relationships over real time. There’s no technology that replicates a 20-year conversation.
What has been your organization’s proudest moment or accomplishment so far?
Longevity in this business is genuinely rare. The industry often cites that 80 to 90 percent of financial advisors don’t make it past the first few years. We’ve not only survived — we’ve grown, completed seven successful acquisitions and rebranded as Small Wealth Management in 2025 to better reflect the depth of what we do. If you ask our team, the proudest moments are smaller and more personal: a client calling to say the plan we built together 20 years ago just came true. That never gets old.
How does your company implement unique and personalized care to every client?
We treat every client as the CEO of their own life. Our role is to serve as the chief financial officer — presenting the best path forward, laying out honest options and advocating for what we believe is right while ultimately respecting that the client makes the final call. That philosophy shapes everything from how we build financial plans to how we communicate during market volatility. We do not use a one-size-fits-all approach because no two clients have the same goals, timeline or family situation. Every relationship starts with listening — and it never stops.
What qualities are most important for professionals in your field?
The relationship comes first. Everything else follows from that. Wealth management works best when a client feels genuinely comfortable being honest with their advisor — about their fears, their past financial decisions and their real goals. We don’t judge where someone has been. We meet people where they are and focus on where they want to go. Beyond that, you need the kind of strategic discipline that removes emotion from the equation. Markets go up, markets go down, and a sophisticated advisor’s job is to be the steady, objective voice when everything feels uncertain — the kind of clear-eyed guidance that’s hard to replicate with an algorithm.
Is there anything else readers should know about you or your business?
We’re in our second quarter century — and we’re just getting started. Small Wealth Management has grown significantly, but we’ve worked hard to make sure that growth never dilutes what makes us different. If you’re wondering whether now is the right time to take your financial future seriously, the answer is always yes. We’d love to be part of that conversation.
