Harrison Kemp and Angela Mann, Owners
What kind of competition do you face in this field, and how does your company distinguish itself?
Family law is a highly competitive field because it is both deeply personal and legally complex. Every case and every client is different. Clients are not just choosing an attorney — they are choosing someone to guide them through one of the most difficult periods of their lives. We distinguish ourselves through a client-centered, strategy-driven approach. We combine meticulous legal preparation with compassionate representation, ensuring that our clients have an opportunity to achieve the best possible outcome.
What has been your organization’s proudest moment or accomplishment so far?
Our proudest accomplishment is the reputation we have built for ourselves. Since 2017, our respect within the legal community has grown exponentially. Most of our clients today are referrals, which highlights the trust we have established with former clients, other attorneys, judges and professionals in the community. We hope to continue making connections and impacting clients and colleagues positively.
What trends are you watching in your industry right now, and how are you preparing for them?
The accessibility of artificial intelligence has become increasingly apparent in the legal profession, especially in cases with self-represented parties. AI can be a helpful tool, but AI often cites outdated and even completely fake law, which can have an appearance of accuracy. As attorneys, we have a duty to cite to existing and current law or to make a good faith argument for an extension or exception to current law. AI has no such duty. However, we are now faced with parties that rely on AI for legal research and ultimately misstate or misrepresent the law.
What kind of employee culture do you try to cultivate?
We are a small firm, and we likely do not fit the stereotypical law firm environment. Our office is casual, but we work hard and often work late. Every member of our team plays a vital role in client outcomes, and we strive to continue learning from each other to better the firm as a whole and ourselves at the personal level. Our healthy internal relationships allow us to operate as one and better serve our clients and the community.
