Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Education Johnny Key announced the “Ready For School Resource Call Center” that opened on Monday, Aug. 3 for parents and teachers with questions about school as the return date approaches on Aug. 24.
“We will take this opportunity to either get the resources they need or direct them to the right place. This is something very important as we get closer to the start of school and parents are going to have more questions,” Key said. “Obviously, many of those questions will be dependent upon the work that’s happening in their local school districts but we will work to make sure that we get those answers for them.”
The Arkansas Department of Education has partnered with the Arkansas Department of Health, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Arkansas Bilingual Resource Network, Republic of Marshall Islands Consulate and Office of Coordinated Support and Service to create the call center.
It will be open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals can call 1-833-353-6050 to reach the call center.
“We will gauge the level of response we get,” said Key. “If we need to look at expanding the hours of that call center operation, we will be doing so as well.”
