Conway Corporation is developing a new 132 megawatt solar energy project in White County.
The organization has entered into a 20-year agreement with Lightsource BP to develop the solar facility on 700 acres near Happy, Ark. The energy generated by the facility is expected to be able to power approximately 21,400 houses.
“We are committed to providing safe, reliable, affordable and innovative and environmentally sound service to our customers. This solar project checks all of those boxes.” Conway Corp Chief Executive Officer Bret Carroll said in a statement. “We know this project is a great long-range strategy in our continued efforts to serve our customers with excellence.”
Under the terms of the agreement, Lightsource BP will finance, construct and operate the solar facility. It will provide energy to Conway Corp at a fixed rate.
Approximately 250 jobs are expected to be created as a result of the project’s construction.
According to a Conway Corp release, the project is expected to be operational by the end of 2022.
