The Compton, a new 142-room independent lifestyle hotel, is set to open in Bentonville this fall. Situated on Bentonville’s historic square, adjacent to Dave Peel Park and a new pedestrian promenade that connects to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the hotel will serve as a vibrant hub for community, creativity and outdoor adventure, said Klaudio Simic, president of the management group Practice Hospitality.
“The Compton’s amenities have been conceptualized with the needs of outdoor enthusiasts in mind,” he said. “Recognizing Bentonville’s acclaim as the Mountain Biking Capital of the World, the hotel will feature specialized amenities such as a bike valet service, a comprehensive bike wash station and secure bike storage.”
The design, a collaborative effort by Marvel and BRR Architecture with interiors by Créme, will reflect the region’s natural beauty and cultural essence while providing modern, upscale amenities. Notable design features include a skylit lobby with soaring ceilings and comfortable seating designed to blur the boundaries between the indoors and outdoors, he added.
The lobby will also be equipped with the technology to support live performances, and the property will also include 3,750 square feet of meeting and event space highlighted by a grand ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows ideal for meetings, weddings and special events.
The guest rooms will feature custom-designed window seats with adjoining tables, creating versatile “window portals” with operable apertures to bring in fresh air. The built-in spaces will be able to function as a chaise lounge, dining area or remote workstation.
The Compton will offer three full-service presidential suites, each with dedicated social spaces, meeting-room technology, wet-bar pantries and views of Dave Peel Park. The suites can be combined into larger two-bedroom accommodations for added space and privacy.
In addition, the property will include three food and beverage outlets operated by Bentonville-based Ropeswing Hospitality Group. There will be a cafe and a full-service restaurant, both with al fresco dining options and a second-level specialty bar overlooking the town square. The restaurant and bar will have private dining rooms for special occasions.
“Years ago, the ownership group recognized the need for a downtown gathering place that would serve as a home base for both locals and visitors,” said Robert Vertes, director of design and construction at The Working Group. ”With the guidance of trusted advisors and consultants, their vision gradually took shape.”
Kalene Griffith, president and CEO of Visit Bentonville, said The Compton will become a cornerstone of the city’s downtown experience that will have a positive economic impact on downtown businesses and the city as a whole.
“The addition of The Compton’s meeting and event space is a game changer for Bentonville, providing a dynamic venue to support our Unconventional Convention and future gatherings,” she said. “This new space will help us foster creativity, collaboration and connection in the heart of downtown, reinforcing Bentonville as a premier destination for innovative events.”
After the hotel is open, Simic said, it will work to expand its partnership with local businesses and cultural institutions and offer exclusive experiences and packages that will enhance guests’ stays and further integrate the hotel into the community.
